WHAT IS DAYSHORE?
DayShore is a partnership between local ministries and Lakeshore Camp and Retreat Center to provide an opportunity for campers to experience the joy of summer camp within their own community. Together, Lakeshore and the church, work to provide a Christ-centered week filled with hands-on lessons about God, out-of-the-box worship experiences, tons of activities, good food, and volunteers to share the love of Christ.
WHAT TO EXPECT:
Lakeshore Camp & Retreat Center will pack all things camp into a truck and trailer to ensure the campers never have a dull moment. Each day will include session times, activity periods, an all-camp activity, and worship.
Groups: Campers are divided into small groups based on age/grade and assigned a counselor. This will remain with this group for the entire week.
Meals: Your child will be provided a breakfast snack (if they arrive before 8am), lunch, and an afternoon snack. In the past, children with specific dietary needs have opted to bring their own lunch and snacks, but we do our best to accommodate all needs.
Session Time: The DayShore Director will lead the entire group during this time of worship, prayer, scripture reading, small group discussion, and all group activity.
Activity Periods: During this time, the counselors will lead small groups in customized activities such as archery, arts & crafts, silly games, recreational games, and singing/dancing.
All Camp Activity: Each afternoon, the camp gathers for an all-camp activity such as water games, talent show, relay games, scavenger hunt, and messy games.
WHAT TO BRING:
Campers are encouraged to wear comfortable clothes and sturdy shoes as they will be participating in a variety of activities throughout the day. Wearing or bringing sunscreen and bug spray each day is highly recommended. On days where the campers will get messy or wet, we ask that they bring a towel and modest swimwear to change into or clothes to change into after the wet or messy activity. We will let you know at pick-up the day before if a change of clothes is needed. Your camper may bring a water bottle, but it is not necessary as we will have cups and water available throughout the day.
